Placencia, Belize Wins Prestigious World Travel Award
Belize has just won two extraordinary accolades from the World Travel Awards! More importantly, it was Placencia which took home the honors. Placencia’s famous crescent beach is now, officially, the leading beach destination for the whole of Central America and Mexico in 2015. On top of that, Ambergris Caye was named the Leading Destination.
Everyone in Placencia, especially everyone at Laru Beya beachfront resort, already knows that this perfect Caribbean paradise, at the southern end of Belize, is the most admired and most loved venue.
Everyone knows the warm welcomes, the unique Garifuna culture, the enticing Caribbean Sea, the magical Maya heritage, and the charm of the tropical wildlife bring people here.
Everyone at Laru Beya also knows that it is their behind-the-scenes hard work that brings vacationers back again and again to this safe, friendly, and almost unimaginable place. Beautiful Caribbean Sea on one side, and a mangrove-fringed lagoon on the other, add to Placencia’s charm.
Laru Beya is one of the most affordable beachfront locations, yet it offers luxurious rooms, suites and penthouses for their guests. The Quarterdeck Restaurant provides everything imaginable from tropical fruit breakfast items to gourmet dinners made from the finest local ingredients. From here you can lounge in your own, personal hammock, walk along the amazing sixteen mile beach, swim, scuba dive, or borrow our bicycles and take yourself off to Placencia Village.
The World Travel Award is not our first world-class trophy. Placencia Village is named in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the narrowest main street in the world. Wander along this 4 foot wide thoroughfare listening to the conversations and the laughter. Go into the casual bars to enjoy a tropical drink, take yourself into one of the many small restaurants to enjoy your evening as the place comes alive in this “no shirt, no shoes, no problem” world.
You will, no doubt, want to venture further afield. When you do you will find professional and helpful tour guides to take you where your heart desires. If you have always wanted to snorkel or scuba dive down the Blue Hole or glide along the world’s second largest barrier reef, then just reserve your place.
Sail along in a catamaran and watch the huge whale sharks – the largest fish in the entire world – spy on manatee and dolphin, and giant rays. If you prefer to go inland and explore the world’s only jaguar sanctuary, you’re in luck. All of our visitors also go to see the Maya sites that are within a short distance of Placencia, and learn about this amazing civilization.
We all look forward to welcoming you, and you can be sure of the warmest welcome from all of us at Laru Beya Beach Resort.
Please come and help us to celebrate the wonderful World Travel Award of Placencia being the leading beach destination of 2015.
