Belize direct flights“Belize is getting easier to reach, with new flights from New York, Fort Lauderdale, and San Francisco,” wrote Caitlin Sullivan, the Caribbean Journal’s Arts and Culture editor, on October 10, 2025. Among the carriers adding these flights are JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, and WestJet. All have announced “…new and returning nonstop routes,” each designed to “enhance U.S. and Canadian access.” These new routes are likely to excite Belize fans most of all:

    • Spirit Airlines begins its first-ever service to Belize in November 2025, offering nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
    • By November 21st, Spirit specifically intends to launch Monday, Friday, and Saturday Belize flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood
    • Jet Blue already connects New York City to Belize via new year-round, non-stop service out of John F. Kennedy International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays
    • United Airlines expects to re-establish its former seasonal route from San Francisco International Airport to Belize beginning December 20th
    • United also intends to introduce Saturday flights through mid-August 2026 that gives Northern California’s Belize fans the opportunity to access the airline’s “extensive global network” via this San Francisco flight addition.
    • Air Canada continues to strengthen its winter service to Belize, offering direct flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport and a new nonstop route from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. The airline also provides convenient European connections through Amsterdam and London, making it easier than ever for travelers from across Europe to reach Belize via Canada.
    • WestJet continues to offer nonstop seasonal flights from both Toronto and Calgary, expanding access for Canadian travelers seeking warm-weather escapes during the winter months.

Who gets credit for this boost in Belize airline access?

Credit management at various airlines and Belize’s Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler for these new routes. Mahler was quick to call these new options “a milestone in expanding Belize’s international reach,” wrote Sullivan when she learned of these changes. She quotes Mahler as saying, “From New York to Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco, these routes not only make Belize more accessible for travelers seeking our extraordinary experiences, but they also strengthen our tourism ties and create lasting economic opportunities for our people.”
